The Boguchany Dam is a large hydroelectric dam on the Angara River, fifth in Russia. Its primary purpose is hydroelectric power production and it will have an installed capacity of 2,997 MW. It was built from 1987 to 2013. This is one of the longest building in the world.
Construction of the power station started in 1980 but was suspended in 1994 due to the lack of financing. Work on the project resumed in 2005 when RusHydro and Rusal agreed to develop the project jointly. Construction restarted in 2007. The first turbine was dispatched in 2008. The dam began to fill its reservoir in May 2012 and by August of that year, the first two turbines were installed.
This is construction of the road over the Dam now. It should be completed in spring 2016.

The third generation is growing up in Kodinsk while the Boguchany dam construction. This is a small quiet town, about 16 thousand people live here and just 600 people working on the hydroelectric power station now.
It is a historical picture from the past century. The inscription means: “Boguchany dam will be built”.
There are a lot of bad roads in Kodinsk and also a lot of good off-road vehicles. They belong to local people or travellers from close cities, who like fishing and hunting. That’s a lot of fish and bears around the city in taiga.
